6/19/2015 1 Comment Freshman Year My beginning year of high school has definitely started off with a bang! I never expected any of these things to happen to me, but I'm glad they did. I've learned how to embrace the positive, and how to accept the negative. August: During August, I accepted my spot in the People to People program (fund my trip to Europe here), and started school. I made all new friends and decided which teachers I'm going to love, and which I'll hate. September: September was a busy month. Lots of ups and downs. First, I got into a musical called "Once On This Island", and got a lead role: Erzulie, Goddess of Love! Also, I unfortunately lost my Grandmother, Bum... Her and I had been really close my entire life, and it was difficult losing her. But we got to spend a lot of time with her, to cherish her and say goodbye. She consoled her mourners, and I think that is pretty lucky. October: This wasn't the craziest month, actually. I had a few performances. I kept up with school. I had another meeting with People to People. I planned my trip to New York and Wisconsin. November: I started "Once On This Island" rehearsal. It was almost everyday till 6 pm. Closer to the shows, we rehearsed till 8 or 9 pm. The show was so amazing and fun! December: This was one of the funnest months of my entire year! During the 15-19th, Julie and I went to New York! One of the greatest experiences of my life!! (look deeper into that trip here). 5 days after that, I left for Wisconsin. I took a flight to Chicago, where I had to navigate O'hare airport by myself. Then, after I found the correct gate, I got on a tiny plane and flew due north to Wisconsin! There, I spent quality time with my dad. January: In January, my little brother Charlie was born! Also, when I got home, I auditioned for "Suessical The Musical". My role in the show was Gertrude Mcfuzz! And, I turned 15. February: During February, I started rehearsals for the show. I did lots and lots of fundraising for my trip to Europe. I planned my trip to Chicago, too. March: Rehearsals for "Seussical" started in March. I took a lot of tests for school, and prepared for Chicago! I went to Chicago with my choir, and it was such an amazing trip! My dad and baby brother also came down and spent time with me! Charlie has gotten SO big! (see more pictures from that trip HERE) Then I came home and sat around for a week. That's what you do on spring break, right? April: The biggest part of April was the production of "Seussical the Musical". I played Gertrude Mcfuzz. It was the biggest role I have ever had. My brother turned 8 years old. That was a fun month. May: This month was a bit uneventful. We went to our friends funeral. And we went hiking in Joshua Tree. I got more and more excited for Europe!
June: I only had 2 weeks of school in June, and they were fast! I studied for all of my finals and signed yearbooks and before I knew it, freshman year was over. I am astonished by how quickly that year went. At this rate, high school will be over in the blink of an eye. Also during June was my countdown to 2 very important parts of my life: getting my braces off and going to Europe. Since both of those things weren't (technically) part of freshman year, they will get their own blog posts. I've been writing this blog post for the entire year. (I would not have been able to remember all of these key parts of my year at the top of my head). Apparently the theme of this post is "holy crap! that was fast!". But seriously, I'm in denial that I'm finally posting this!
