10/19/2014 2 Comments Europe Trip/ pinterest I've always dreamed of taking a plane somewhere beautiful and be around a new culture. When I was smaller, I even comforted myself in imagining waking up early and getting to the airport and getting on a plane to somewhere new. I have been on many planes by myself, as I am quite the jet setter. I used to take 5 hour plane rides from Hawaii to Denver to visit my dad (now I visit him in Wisconsin, but that's an entirely different blog post). Honestly, I love all things about travel, including the packing, the waiting, and the chaos. A few months ago, around June, I got a letter in the mail from a program called People to People, and they wanted to invite me on a trip to Europe with them. Now, my first response to things like that are something along the lines of "yeah right" or "it's a scam". But, I read a little more about it, and it is a totally legit program that takes kids around the world. Anyway, the letter had said that the local meeting for me would be at the college in my city, and to meet on Sept. 17. I talked with my family about it and everyone was pretty much on board. The day finally came, and we went over to the college and got all the details. The majority of it was "You need to be accepted into the program, and we will take you to Italy, France, and England in the summer of 2015". WOW!! I mean yes, that is a lot of fundraising, but still, this is the opportunity of a lifetime!!! The trip is 19 days long, and begins in Italy. We will go to all of the "must-see" sights (including Venice and Milan), and then spend 5 days with a host family. With the host family, each student will help on the family's farm and experience the local life in Italy. Then we go over to France, where we will visit all of the world-famous museums and go to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Finally, we will take an overnight ferry ride to England to learn about English parliament and see all the famous monuments that we've all seen in pictures (like the London Eye and Big Ben)!!! And now, I am on my journey of asking strangers for money and having lots of garage sales, but I have so much spirit and excitement about this!!! I even started a pinterest page for it (who do I think I am?). I have a GoFundMe account. (check it out here, and possibly donate???) Also, you should check out my pinterest account if you love felt animals, cute outfits, and the occasional DIY. XO,
Sunny

That trip sounds absolutely incredible! I travelled with another student company, Travel for Teens last March to Paris and loved the trip. It's so much fun traveling with kids my age and sharing the experience with others. Good luck with fundraising! I can't wait to see pictures from your trip. :)
