My cousin, Allison, and I are in Kitale, Kenya for roughly 3 weeks currently so I would love to reopen this door in order to write about our experience. I was able to join Allison on her "annual" trip through saving money (earned at my new-ish job at the Ace Hotel!!!) and many people's generous donations. Each day has been an adventure and an eye-opener. I love the nature here, the food, and most importantly, the people! I decided it would be most fitting to jump right into a specific day to unfold what Kitale holds for us. This was the course of events Thursday, April 13, 2017. A few days earlier we had bought supplies (lentils, ugali flour, salt, sugar, and laundry soap) in mass quantity to give to each (of 10) families we'd visit. That morning, we headed to Precious Kids Center to pick up some of the kids to help us on our day's adventure. The first place we visited was Shimo, where many families who Allison started businesses for live. Each family was so kind and invited us into their home. And, to get there, we crossed a marvelous bridge. After we visited about 4 families in the morning, we headed back to PCK for lunch, and grabbed a couple more kids. In the afternoon, we went to visit 2 of the kids' families in a different part of town. In the evening, we went back to PKC, painted a couple of the moms' nails, and hung out until the sun went down. I sure do love this place!!!
